Community Arts

Several times a year, the Folk Arts Society and its members reach a wider audience by taking the "lively folk arts" out into the community. For these performances the Society seeks out artists who specialize in working with specific audiences. These audiences include youth, senior citizens, handicapped, and many others.

We then work with the artists and our community partners to develop workshops and performances that are educational and appropriate for their particular setting. These settings include schools, churches, senior centers, libraries, and after school programs. Community Partners contribute toward the programs and the Society raises matching funds from a variety of sources, including individuals, clubs, civic organizations, state and local arts agencies and foundations.
